The Historic Jackson House Project is the preservation and restoration of the Jackson Rooming House at the heart of Downtown Tampa. The historic building was originally constructed in 1901 as a boarding house providing accommodations to African-Americans and other travelers of African descent during the era of racial segregation. In 2013, the Jackson House was deemed too damaged to be restored and faced likely demolition, but after over a decade of advocacy by the Jackson House Foundation, the Tampa landmark is being brought back to life. The Sinclair team is currently working with architect Jerel McCants and the Jackson House Foundation on Preconstruction Services to prepare for the restoration.
